DEITIES

SREE NARASIMHA

One of the principal deities of the temple is Sree Narasimha, the fourth avatar of Mahavishnu. The idol of Sree Narasimha in this temple is in a serene form, blessing Prahlada after killing Hiranyakashipu. Devotees visiting the Narasimha temple worship the divinity of Sree Narasimha, Mahalakshmi and Prahlada altogether. Since the Narasimha avatar here is fond of children's playful antics, various cultural performances like children's namajapam, bhajans, dance, music, etc. have been conducted here for years to appease the deity. In the temple premises, no one scolds or punishes children, no matter how mischievous they become. The idol of Sree Narasimha is situated in a square sanctum sanctorum, facing west, built in the traditional Kerala temple architecture style. The roof of the sanctum sanctorum is made of wood and tiles. The main offering to Sree Narasimha is cold Panakam. Neyvilakku (ghee lamp) is also of equal significance.

SREE PARTHASARATHY

The other principal deity of the temple is Sree Parthasarathy. The idol is in the form of Sree Krishna holding a whip. Sree Krishna as charioteer of Arjuna is called Parthasarathi. The sacred words of Bhagavad Gita were emanated from the divine lips of Sree Parthasarathi. Just as Sree Parthasarathi steered Arjuna to victory, he also navigates us through life's challenges and guiding us towards triumph and success. Sree Parthasarathi idol in the temple is situated in a separate sanctum sanctorum, smaller in size, facing east, also built in the traditional Kerala temple architecture style.
